Our mission

One day, Jesus was asked by a religious leader what the most important command from God was. In other words, "What is the one thing God really wants us to do in life?"

Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."

- Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus says these two things - Love God and Love Your Neighbor - are so important that all the other commands given by God, and all the truth revealed by God, come from them. If you were to really try to follow these two commands, then your life would be anything but ordinary. Your life would be filled with purpose and meaning. The truth is, we can't live this way on our own. The Good News is that Jesus came to make this kind of life possible. Following Jesus Christ is an adventure. At Intrepid Christian Church, we are learning to live this adventure together in the Gig Harbor community and beyond, and we would love for you to join us.

Our mission is to Love God, Love our Neighbors, and Live the Adventure!

love God

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with every part of you.

Some people may wonder "How do I do that?" and "Why would I even want to?"

In the New Testament section of the Bible, it says in 1 John, chapter 4, verse 19:

"We love because He (God) first loved us."

You may feel like there is no way God could actually love you. You may question God's love because of all the bad things that happen in the world, or that have happened in your life. You may not even be sure if there is a God, and if there is, you don't think God would want anything to do with you.

The truth is that God loves you. Jesus' life and why He died on the cross prove how much God loves you. God wants to teach you to love others by experiencing His love.

We want to create space where anyone can experience God's perfect love. Whether you believe God loves you or not, you are invited to come see how much you are loved.

Join us at one of our Sunday gatherings.

love your neighbor

Love can be defined as desiring and pursuing the very best for someone.

God loves our neighbors - all of our neighbors. Jesus Christ moved into our neighborhood (the world) because He loves us. One of the most famous verses in the Bible is John 3:16:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The next verse is just as important to know: John 3:17: "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

Jesus teaches us to love our neighbors too. It is kind of difficult to love someone you don't really know, which is why getting to know our neighbors in Gig Harbor and the surrounding communities is a high priority for us at Intrepid Christian Church. We also want to help our neighbors know each other. We believe that getting to know our neighbors, and pursuing the best for them, will change our lives, our neighbor's lives, and our communities for the better.

live the adventure

A lot of people think that Christians live boring lives. Maybe that is because we associate Christianity with boring church services and lists of things we shouldn't do. Honestly, that kind of Christianity is not what is written about in the Bible. When we look at the life of Jesus in the Gospels (the books in the Bible that talk about Jesus), and read about the beginning of the Church in the Book of Acts, we can see a life of freedom, purpose and adventure.

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

- John 10:10

That does not sound like a boring, mediocre existence.

We all have things that hold us back from the full life Jesus came to bring us. Fear, self-centeredness, addiction, and sin cripple all of us. Some of us are really good at covering up and over-compensating, but if we are honest, life often leaves us feeling unfulfilled. Jesus came to free us from the things that hold us back from life, and lead us into a life of purpose, meaning, and adventure.
